Sing and Play Together at momstown Victoria Music & Movement

Today we had our first momstown Victoria Music & Movement program at Dance Victoria! We started by singing our favourite Mother Goose rhymes together in circle time. Then we blasted our Raffi CD and followed the rhythm with our tambourines, shakers and xylophones.

Soon we were stomping as elephants, slinking as snakes, swimming as fish and roaring like dinosaurs. Emile lured Sami into chasing him in wild circles, but they both froze when the music stopped and we called 'Statue!' Great movement control, boys!

Then we pulled out the parachute for the awesomeness that only a big parachute can bring. By some fortunate timing, Raffi started singing "We're gonna shake, shake, shake our sillies out" to kick off our parachute play. The kids loved running under and being on top of the parachute.

We ended our musical playtime with 3 rounds of 'sleeping bunnies,' with an extra long "shhhhh' for sleeping dinosaurs at the end. The moms that joined us went for coffee at a nearby playground afterward, and seeing moms connect (or in this case, reconnect) was the most fun of all. :)

  1. Love that this is indoors so it is a go rain or shine.

  2. I tried to follow the Dance Victoria link and I couldn't find more info about this Music and Movement class. Do you have a direct link?

  3. Hi Bonnie,

We are renting the space from Dance Victoria and I am running the curriculum myself until we can find a great music partner.

Here are a few examples from other chapters:

Let me know if you have any more questions! :)
